NOTRE DAME, Ind. – University of Notre Dame women’s golfer Becca Huffer (Denver, Colo.) was named the BIG EAST Women’s Golfer of the Week for the week concluding March 29, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.
Huffer earned the honor after claiming second place of 78 competitors at the John Kirk/Intercollegiate Invitational at Eagle’s Landing Country Club in Stockbridge, Ga. The junior posted a 70, 71 and 70 in the 54-hole tournament to log her a career-best 211 (-5).Huffer finished just one stroke behind first-place finisher Daytona State’s Mitsuki Katahira. Notre Dame, led by Huffer, claimed the tournament crown and recorded an 888 (+24). The junior’s second-place finish marked her highest individual finish this season.
The Irish return to action Friday at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Athens, Georgia. The three-day tournament is set to be played at the University of Georgia Golf Course.
