NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Four members of the University of Notre Dame women’s golf team became the first student-athletes in school history to earn all-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) academic team honors, as announced by the ACC on Friday. Senior Kristina Nhim, junior Ashley Armstrong, sophomore Talia Campbell and freshman Jordan Ferreira each received all-ACC academic recognition following Notre Dame’s first season competing in the conference in 2013-14.

To be eligible for consideration for the all-ACC academic team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester, while maintaining a cumulative 3.00 average during her academic career. The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, which was also presented on Friday to North Carolina State senior Brittany Marchand, was established in the fall of 2007 and is annually awarded to the top junior or senior student-athlete in a respective sport who has maintained a cumulative 3.00 or higher grade point average throughout their career.

As a team, Notre Dame tied Duke, Miami and Wake Forest for the conference lead with four all-ACC academic team representatives. Clemson and Florida State each had three players honored, apiece.

Nhim finished her career with the Irish as a two-time all-BIG EAST Conference selection, and won her first collegiate tournament earlier this year at the Clover Cup (March 14-16) in Mesa, Ariz. (68-72-73-213, -3). Nhim, who graduated with a degree in accountancy from Notre Dame’s top-ranked Mendoza College of Business in May, was also a three-time all-BIG EAST academic team selection.

Armstrong has received Capital One Academic At-Large All-America honors (third team, 2013; second team, 2014) from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) in each of the past two seasons, carrying a cumulative 3.89 grade point average as a mechanical engineering major in the College of Engineering. Armstrong, a three-time medalist at Notre Dame, was a two-time all-BIG EAST academic choice and earned an individual victory at the 2012 BIG EAST Conference tournament (73-77-73-223) during her freshman season.

Campbell, who was selected to the all-BIG EAST academic team as a freshman in 2013, has compiled five top 10 and 14 top 25 finishes in only 21 starts thus far in her Notre Dame career. A finance major in Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business, Campbell earned all-BIG EAST recognition last season after sharing co-medalist honors at the 2013 BIG EAST Championship (72-69-69-210, -6).

Ferreira was one of six freshmen from across the ACC to be named to the conference’s all-academic team following her inaugural campaign with the Irish. Ferreira, who is enrolled in Notre Dame’s College of Science, posted a 75.79 stroke average, one top 10 and four top 25 finishes in her first 10 career starts in 2013-14. The University Place, Wash. native is competing in the 2014 United States Women’s Open at Pinehurst No. 2 in Pinehurst, N.C. this week.
