Here’s a look at five things you need to know as Notre Dame steps to the first tee on the Dye Course at Landfall on Friday morning:

  • The Fighting Irish are playing in the Landfall Tradition for the sixth consecutive year and the seventh time overall (also 2008). Notre Dame has finished in the upper half of the 18-team field at Landfall on three occasions, including top-five finishes in 2012 (fifth – shortened to one round by weather) and 2014 (third).

  • Notre Dame’s 871 (+7) score last year was easily its best in six appearances at the Landfall Tradition. In doing so, the Fighting Irish finished ahead of several Top 25 teams including Virginia, Duke, Oklahoma State and Purdue, and they wound up tied with (then) No. 1 South Carolina.

  • Junior Jordan Ferreira (University Place, Wash./Bellarmine Prep) has performed well in her previous two appearances with Notre Dame at the Landfall Tradition. Ferreira has posted a 74.50 stroke average at the event with four rounds of 74 or lower, and she tied for 16th place at last year’s tournament at 218 (+2).

  • Senior captain Talia Campbell (Dallas, Texas/Ursuline Academy) finished strong at last year’s Landfall Tradition with back-to-back scores of 72, highlighted by an eagle in her final round. Campbell tied for 41st place last year at 222 (+6).

  • For the second time this season, Notre Dame will have all three of its freshmen in the starting lineup, with Isabella DiLisio (Hatfield, Pa./Mount Saint Joseph Academy) and Emma Albrecht (Ormond Beach, Fla./Father Lopez) holding down the top two spots. The Fighting Irish also had three freshmen in their lineup Sept. 19-21 when they placed fifth at the 12-team Schooner Fall Classic in Norman, Oklahoma. Prior to that weekend, Notre Dame had not had three freshmen in the lineup since the 2007 BIG EAST Conference Championship.
