NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- Notre Dame women’s golf Head Coach Susan Holt has announced the signing of Abby Heck to a National Letter of Intent. She will attend Notre Dame and join the women’s golf team beginning in the fall of 2017.

“We’re so excited to make Abby's arrival at Notre Dame official,” Holt said. “Abby's success in the classroom and on the golf course makes her a perfect fit for Notre Dame. Her extensive playing resume will have her well prepared to transition to the college game, allowing her to become a major contributor to our team’s success on day one. We can't wait for her to join our Notre Dame women’s golf family!”

Heck was named the Commercial Appeal Best of the Preps Golfer of the Year in 2015 and 2016 and was also named to the 2015 AJGA Junior All-Star Team. She is ranked 30th in the class of 2017 (92nd overall) by the Junior Golf Scoreboard and 43rd in the class of 2017 (145th overall) by Golfweek.

Heck currently attends St. Agnes Academy in Memphis, Tennessee. She has been a member of the varsity golf team at St. Agnes since eighth grade and has led the team to state championships in each of the past three seasons (2014-16). Heck also won individual state championships (Div. II-AA) in 2014 by shooting a one-under-par 143 and in 2015 when she shot a five-under-par 139.

Heck is also a decorated American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) player. Since 2014, she has four top-five finishes in AJGA events as well as six additional top-10 showings. In 2015, Heck won the Bubba Conlee National Junior in record-setting fashion, posting the lowest score (208/-8) in the 35-year history of the tournament.

In the classroom, Heck is a National Merit Commended Scholar, a National AP Scholar and a member of the National Honor Society.

Heck is the daughter of Stacy and Robert Heck and she has two younger sisters, Rachel (15) and Anna (12).
