Women's Lacrosse Defeats Gannon

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Freshman Courtney Calabrese set single-game scoring mark with seven as Notre Dame cruised to a 20-10 win over Gannon as the Irish rebounded from their loss to Syracuse eight days ago. It was the final home game of the season for Coach Tracey Coyne's squad as Notre Dame improves to 7-4 on the season.

The Irish scored 16 goals in their school-record 20 goals in the first half with Calabrese tallying four of the first six. She netted her first goal 59 seconds into the contest. Gannon, which fell to 7-2 with the loss, tied the game at 1-1 at the 28:37 mark on Stacey Reynolds' goal than came off an assist from Debra Wood.

Following the Wood's score, Notre Dame scored six unanswered goals and jumped out to a 10-2 lead when Kathryn Perrella scored on a free position shot with 16:36 remaining in the first half. After back-to-back goals by Reynolds, who finished with three goals in the contest, cut the Irish lead to 10-4, Notre Dame closed out the half with a 6-0 run that included two goals Stephanie Fox.

Eight different Notre Dame players scored in the contest, while eight separate players contributed at least one assist. In addition to her seven goals, Calabrese also dished off one assist. Another freshman, Lael O'Shaughnessy finished with three goals and three assists. Fox also had three scores in the game, while Kerry Callahan added two goals and an assist. Mara Grace had two goals and an assist and netted the goal (Notre Dame's 20th) which set the school mark off an Eileen Regan assist with 7:55 remaining in the contest.

The Irish outshot the Golden Knights 40-20 in the game.

Notre Dame returns to action on Friday, April 24 at 3:00 p.m. when the Irish travel to New York, N.Y. where they will face Columbia.
