NOTRE DAME, Ind. - University of Notre Dame women's lacrosse standouts Jaimie Morrison and Barbara Sullivan have been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after helping lead the Irish to a 2-0 week, the league office announced Monday.
Morrison, who earns the honor for the second week in a row, tallied six goals, two assists, three ground balls and a caused turnover in Notre Dame wins over Detroit (22-1) and Boston University (16-11). The Yorktown Height, N.Y., native scored two goals against the Titans before turning in a six point effort (4G, 2A) against the Terriers. Included in the four goals was a pair of goals in 19 seconds that clinched the game for the Irish. The two goals moved the margin from 12-10 to 14-10 with 5:13 left in the contest. Morrison leads the team in goals (11), assists, (7), points (18) and shots (23).
Sullivan turned in an outstanding week on defense as she collected 12 ground balls and two draw controls and caused seven turnovers. The Garden City, N.Y., native also dished out her first career assist against Boston.
Against Detroit, Sullivan had four ground balls and two caused turnovers. In Saturday's showdown with the Terriers, Sullivan had a career-high eight ground ball and a career-high five caused turnovers in addition to her assist. The highlight of the game may have come from Sullivan as she caused a turnover, collected the ground ball, ran several yards up the field and found Morrison for a goal just 45 seconds into the second half to start the Notre Dame comeback from an 8-4 halftime deficit. She leads the team in ground balls (20), is second in caused turnovers (12) and third in draw controls (8).
The No. 6 Irish (5-0) are in Nashville, Tenn., for a spring break showdown with Vanderbilt (1-6). Notre Dame and the Commodores get underway at 4 p.m. (ET) Wednesday and can be followed through live stats.
