NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Senior University of Notre Dame women's lacrosse standouts Jenny Granger and Ellie Hilling have earned spots on the BIG EAST's Weekly Honor Roll after helping the Irish remain undefeated with a pair of conference wins over then-No. 19/RV Rutgers and Villanova this past weekend, the league office announced Monday.
Granger totaled four goals and three assists on the weekend, including two goals and two assists in a win over the Scarlet Knights and two goals and an assist in the victory over the Wildcats. The East Setauket, N.Y., native played an especially key roll in the win over the Scarlett Knights, scoring the first two goals of the game to give Notre Dame the early 2-0 lead and also dishing out two key assists in the second half that put the game away.
Hilling had a monster weekend between the pipes for the Irish, allowing an average of four goals a game and putting together a .714 save percentage in the two wins. Against Rutgers, the Rochester, N.Y., native had eight saves and allowed just six goals. She also had five ground balls while putting together a .571 save percentage. In Sunday's win over Villanova, Hilling stopped a season-high 12 shots, had a remarkable .714 save percentage and allowed just two goals in 57:45 of action.
Notre Dame student-athletes have now earned mention on the weekly honor roll six times this season, while freshman Stephanie Peragallo and junior Margaret Smith have each been named defensive player of the week.
Granger, Hilling and the rest of their Irish teammates hit the road for two BIG EAST contests as they play at Louisville April 5 and at Cincinnati April 7.
