Notre Dame, Ind. - Notre Dame women's lacrosse standout Crysti Foote (Jr., Suffern, N.Y.) has been named third team All-American by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association (IWLCA) and U.S. Lacrosse for the 2005 season. The midfielder/attack player becomes the seventh player in the nine-year history of the Notre Dame women's lacrosse program to take All-American honors.

Being chosen All-American caps an outstanding junior year for Foote who was a unanimous first team all-BIG EAST selection and a first team all-Mid-Atlantic Region choice this year. She has also been selected to play for Team Canada in the 2005 Women's Lacrosse World Cup this summer in Annapolis, Md.

"This is truly a well deserved honor for Crysti. She played hard every day in practice and brings the drive and competitive spirit of a champion with her to every game," said Irish head coach Tracy Coyne.

"Crysti embraced the challenge of leading a very inexperienced attacking unit and remained positive throughout a difficult season. She is respected by our opponents because she finds a way to get it done even when she is being double teamed," added Coyne.

For the year, Foote led Notre Dame in scoring with career highs in goals (34), assists (16), points (50) and shots attempted (115). She was fourth in ground balls (27) and led the team with 28 draw controls on the year. Her 15 caused turnovers tied her for second on the team.

A preseason all-BIG EAST selection, Foote finished the year tied for sixth in the BIG EAST in points with 50, while her 34 goals was seventh overall. In five BIG EAST Conference games, she was third in league scoring with 19 points and her 15 goals tied her for third with three other players.

Foote got her season off to a fast start with a career-best five-goal and eight-point game in the season opener at Ohio University. She would finish the year with eight games with three or more goals and 11 games with three or more points. She closed the year with a 10-game point-scoring streak where she had 26 goals and 12 assists for 38 points in that span.

After three seasons at Notre Dame, Foote ranks among the top scorers in several categories in the Irish record book. She is fourth in goals (87), fifth in assists (34) and fifth in points with 121 in 47 career games.

During her Notre Dame career, Foote has been selected all-BIG EAST twice (first team in 2005 and second team in 2004) and is a three-time all-Mid-Atlantic Region pick (first team in 2003, second team in 2004 and first team in 2005).

Foote joins six other Notre Dame players on the school's list of IWLCA All-Americans. She joins 2002 second team picks, Kathryn Lam and Danielle Shearer, 2003 third teamer Jen White and 2004 selections Meredith Simon (first team), Andrea Kinnik (second team) and Abby Owen (third team).
