Notre Dame women's lacrosse coach Tracy Coyne has announced her team's 2006 fall schedule. The schedule puts the Irish on the road for four dates and wraps up with a home tournament on Oct. 29 at Moose Krause Stadium.
The Irish open fall ball with a visit to defending national champion Northwestern on Friday, Oct. 6 for a 3:00 p.m. (CDT) contest on the turf field near Ryan Stadium
The following weekend, Saturday, Oct. 14, Notre Dame travels to Baltimore, Md., for a three-team tournament with the University of Maryland and the University of Maryland-Baltimore Co. The round-robin tourney will feature one-hour games throughout the day.
Coyne's women's lacrosse team faces its busiest weekend on Oct. 21-22 when they participate in a tournament at the University of Pennsylvania on Saturday, Oct. 21 and then travel to Princeton on Sunday, Oct. 22. The tournament at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pa., will feature Pennsylvania, Notre Dame and the University of Connecticut with games beginning at 10:00 a.m. The following day, the Irish and four other teams will play 40-minute games at Princeton, N.J., beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Princeton Stadium. Joining the Irish will be Princeton, Northwestern, Temple and North Carolina.
Notre Dame then closes out the fall schedule when they play host to their own three-team tournament on Sunday, Oct. 29 beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Irish will host Duquesne University and Northwestern in one-hour games at Moose Krause Stadium.
Notre Dame is coming off the best season in the program's history in 2006 when the Irish were 15-4 and advanced to the NCAA semifinals. They finished the season ranked seventh in the nation in the IWLCA coaches poll and recorded the biggest turnaround in NCAA history after going 3-12 in 2005.
