NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Two members of the University of Notre Dame women's lacrosse team, as well as the squad itself, recently earned recognition for academic success by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA).

The Irish were one of 65 teams to earn Academic Squad honors from the IWLCA. To be recognized, a team has to have a combined GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Honored individually were recent graduates McKenzie Brown and Adele Bruggeman. Brown graduated from the College of Science with a science pre-professional degree with a minor in science, technology and values, while Bruggeman graduated from the College of Arts & Letters with a degree in sociology with a minor in poverty studies.

The duo was included in a group of only 190 student-athletes, including just 51 that made the NCAA Tournament, from around the country to receive recognition. All student-athletes had to be nominated by their school and have achieved at least junior status academically to be eligible.

Notre Dame is coming off a 12-5 season where they advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive year under second year head coach Christine Halfpenny.
