Women's Outdoor Track
AS A JUNIOR: Due to roster turnover, took over some throwing duties during the indoor season and outdoor season, as well as concentrating on the javelin during the outdoor season ... threw the shot put and participated in the weight throw in the Tri Meet against Western Michigan and Ball State ... also threw both implements against Michigan State ... finished fifth in the javelin (115-7 1/2) finals at the Purdue Invitational to begin the outdoor season ... placed fourth at the Spring Opener in the javelin (116-0 1/2) ... also took fourth place at the Tom Botts Invitational (113-8) ... qualified for the BIG EAST outdoor meet, finishing 13th in the javelin. AS A SOPHOMORE: Once again proved to be the top threat for the Irish in the javelin ... repeated her own Spring Opener win from 2000 with a 120-10 toss at the 2001 Spring Opener that earned her first place in the competition ... finished in the top six of in five out of six javelin competitions ... qualified for the 2001 BIG EAST Outdoor Championship, finishing in 10th place and breaking her own school record with a 123-5 measurement. AS A FRESHMAN: One of the top field event specialists in the javelin for the track and field team in 2000 ... set a Notre Dame record in the javelin throw (118-7) in just her second collegiate meet ... her record-setting throw earned her first place in the 2000 Spring Opener ... finished third at the Indy Relays in the javelin with a 107-5 effort ... almost equaled her Notre Dame record mark at the 2000 BIG EAST Outdoor Championships with a 118-6 throw that earned her ninth place. HIGH SCHOOL AND PERSONAL DATA: A four-sport standout at Port Barre High School ... earned four letters in cross country, track and field, basketball and softball ... the conference, regional and state champion in the javelin her senior year ... named to the all-conference softball team all four years at Port Barre ... voted team MVP for the softball and basketball team her senior year ... earned academic all-state accolades for softball and basketball in 1999 ... voted "Best Glove" on the softball team in 1998 and 1999 ... participated in the 1999 Louisiana High School Athletic Association All-Star Softball Game ... brother Brad was a member of the University of Loyola-New Orleans crew team ... member of the National Honor Society and the student council ... full name is Sherri Andre' Duplechain ... born Sept. 13, 1980, in New Iberia, La. ... enrolled in the College of Arts and Letters with a major in theology. |
