Notre Dame Track Finishes Third At Home Meet

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Notre Dame's men's and women's track and field teams placed third out of four teams in a home meet against Miami (Ohio), Western Michigan and Butler. Miami won both the men's and women's competitions with 219 points for the women and 214 points for the men. Western Michigan's women's team had 170 points to Notre Dame's 146 and Western Michigan's men's team edged Notre Dame 198-188. Butler was fourth in both competitions.

In the men's competition, seniors Errol Williams and Kevin Reher finished first and second in the 110-meter hurdles in 13.81 and 14.52. Sophomore Phil Mishka and Tim Kober claimed the top two spots in the 800 meters in 1:54.71 and 1:55.90. Senior Jason Rexing won the 1,500 meters in 3:52. 62 while freshman Terry Wray won the 400 meters in 48.59. Junior Sean McManus won the 5,000 meters in 14:49.49. The Irish also won the men's 4x100 meter relay in 41.50.

On the women's side, sophomore Alison Klemmer, freshman Bridget O'Brien and sophomore Erin Luby helped Notre Dame to a sweep of the top three spots in the 3,000 meters. Sophomore Jennifer Engelhardt won the high jump while freshman Bethany Wilson won the women's pole vault.
