Sophomore Tameisha King, the Notre Dame record holder in the indoor and outdoor long jump, has earned a spot on the United States roster for the 2000 World Junior Championships. The competition is scheduled for Oct. 17-22 in Santiago, Chile. King earned the roster spot with a second-place finish at the USA Junior Nationals, June 23-24, in Denton, Texas.

Previous US participants at the IAAF World Junior Championships include Marion Jones, Terrance Trammell, Adam Nelson, Amy Acuff and Suzy Favor-Hamilton.
