Women's Rowing


IN THE FALL: Was a member of the first varsity eight during the fall season ... rowed in the fifth seat ... crew placed fourth at the Head of the Rock ... was 29th in the Championship Race at the Head of the Charles.

AS A JUNIOR: Returned to row in both the first and second varsity eight most of the spring after missing the fall season while studying abroad ... earned her second monogram with the Irish in 2002-03 ... was a member of the BIG EAST Academic All-Star team ... placed sixth in the grand finals of the second varsity eight at the Central Regions in 6:42.50 ... participated in the prestigious Windermere Cup race in Seattle as a member of the first eight, placing third behind nationally-ranked Washington and the Belarus National Team ... won a silver medal at the BIG EAST Rowing Challenge in the first eight as the Irish were runners-up in the team race to Syracuse ... also had victories in the first eight against Dayton, Indiana, Purdue and North Carolina during the spring season.

AS A SOPHOMORE: Named to the BIG EAST Academic All-Star Team ... earned her first monogram with the Irish in 2001-02 ... rowed as bow seat of the second varsity eight for most of the 2001-02 season ... finished fifth at Central Regions ... came in second to Syracuse at BIG EAST regatta, missing first by less than a second ... placed second at the Indiana Crew Classic ... finished sixth at the San Diego Crew Classic ... rowed in the two seat at Tennessee, beating the Lady Vols by almost seven seconds ... rowed in the bow seat of the second varsity eight this fall ... crew was third at the Milwaukee River Challenge ... second varsity eight was second at the Chicago Chase in a time of 16:42.20 ... crew finished seventh at the Head of the Rock.

AS A FRESHMAN: Was a member of the novice roster in 2000-01 ... was in the fourth seat in the winning novice eight against Tennessee ... moved to the second seat as boat also won at Michigan State and Dayton ... won at Indiana Cup, outdistancing the field by almost eight seconds ... won its heat at the Midwest Rowing Championship before the finals were cancelled due to inclement weather ... novice eight lost its first race of the season at the BIG EAST Rowing Challenge, finishing second by less than a second to Georgetown ... placed third in its petite final heat at the Central Region ... sat in the fifth seat of the novice eight boat which placed fifth at the Head of the Elk ... also competed in the open eight race, placing 23rd in Elkhart.

PREP AND PERSONAL: Played softball, soccer and basketball at Duxbury High School ... was team captain of the softball team as a senior ... team won conference championships as a sophomore in softball and a junior in soccer ... won the Atlantic Coast League batting championship as a sophomore ... named to the all-star game as a sophomore, where she hit a homerun ... member of National Honor Society, chamber orchestra, string quartet, youth ministry and Habitat for Humanity ... also participated in Appalachia Service Project ... from the same high school as freshman Fallon Shields ... one of four children for Joanne and Ronald Protasewich ... born June 9, 1982, in Hartford, Conn. ... enrolled in the College of Business ... has an overall grade-point average of 3.376 ... has been named to the Dean's List three times in her career (fall '03, spring '02, fall '00).
