Women's Rowing


IN THE FALL: Rowed in the bow seat of the second varsity eight at the Head of the Rock ... crew placed seventh ... was a member of the squad that placed third in the Club Eight race at the Head of the Charles ... it was the first appearance by an Irish boat at the prestigious Head of the Charles.

AS A JUNIOR: Rowed as a member of the second and third varsity four most of the season ... did not row in the Central Regions or the BIG EAST Rowing Challenge ... was in the third four against Michigan State ... was a member of the second varsity four "B" boat ... defeated the "C" crew in the first race, before falling to Notre Dame's "A" boat ... was a member of the second four against Iowa, placing third ... rowed in the third varsity eight at home against Kansas and at the Head of the Rock ... boats placed third and seventh, respectively ... second varsity four finished third at home, more than 21 seconds ahead of the second, third and fourth Jayhawk boats . . . rowed in the second club four which placed fourth at the Head of the Ohio.

AS A SOPHOMORE: Rowed in the second varsity eight against Tennessee ... finished first, almost seven seconds ahead of the Lady Vols ... rowed in the second seat of the first varsity four at the Milwaukee River Challenge ... finished fifth in that race ... rowed in the second seat of the third varsity eight at the Chicago Chase and the Head of the Rock.

AS A FRESHMAN: Was a member of the novice roster for the 2000-01 season ... raced in the bow seat of the third novice eight at the Head of the Elk ... placed fifth in the race ... moved up to the first novice eight for the spring opener against Tennessee as the Irish defeated the Volunteers ... remained in the first novice eight in the bow for the rest of the season ... moved to the second seat as boat also won at Michigan State and Dayton ... won at Indiana Cup, outdistancing the field by almost eight seconds ... won its heat at the Midwest Rowing Championship before the finals were cancelled due to inclement weather ... novice eight lost its first race of the season at the BIG EAST Rowing Challenge, finishing second by less than a second to Georgetown ... placed third in its petite final heat at the Central Region.

PREP AND PERSONAL: Was a member of the swimming and diving, cross country and track and field teams at East Noble High School ... was a four-year letterwinner in swimming ... ran track and cross country as a junior and senior ... won the conference championship as a freshman in the 200 freestyle relay ... set the school record in the 200 medley relay as a sophomore and a junior ... was team captain of the cross country team as a senior ... earned Academic All-State honors as a senior ... qualified for regionals in the 1,600-meter run ... also participated in a number of triathlons ... was a member of National Honor Society, Spell Bowl, French Club and Quest Literary Magazine ... one of four children for Margaret and David Sanders ... born Nov. 5, 1981, in Kalamazoo, Mich. ... enrolled in the College of Science, majoring in mathematics and pre-professional studies ... boasts a 3.997 grade-point average in seven semesters ... has recorded perfect 4.0 GPAs in six of seven semesters at Notre Dame.
