The Notre Dame first varsity eight crew of Kathryn Long, Natalie Ladine, Alice Bartek, Meghan Boyle, Jenna Redgate, Melissa Felker, Ashley St. Pierre, Danielle Protasewich and Kathleen Welsh placed 29th in the Championship Race today at the Head of the Charles in Boston, Mass. Notre Dame finished the head-style race in a time of 17:16.833, well behind the London Training Center which won in 15:31.082. The United States National Team was second in 15:49.558, followed by the Princeton Training Center in third at 15:56.977. The top collegiate finisher was Yale, who was fourth in 16:08.259.

"We were aggressive early and did a great job for the first time being at this event," head coach Martin Stone says.

"We competed against the best crews in the nation and the world this weekend. I feel good about where we are at as a team and it shows us what we need to do to prepare for the spring season."
