Flores Set To Join Mexico National Team

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Rising University of Notre Dame women’s soccer senior Monica Flores will join the Mexico Women’s National Team for the second time this year when she heads to Mexico City for camp June 2-11.

Flores will join the team at the High Performance Center from June 2-8 before the team heads to Monterrey from June 8-11. The team will also face Venezuela in a match during the course of the camp.

The Livingston, New Jersey, product previously competed with the Mexico program in February, participating in camp in Mexico City before the team flew to Vancouver to play Canada in its Olympic bronze medal celebration match. Flores played all 90 minutes in that contest, though Mexico fell to Canada 3-2.

Flores was a mainstay with the the Mexico U-20 system until the conclusion of the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup when she aged out of the program. As a starting defender, she helped the team to a World Cup qualifying bid with a third-place finish at the 2015 CONCACAF Championship, recording 406 minutes and one assist in five matches.
