** note - see PDF for complete game notes 2005 NOTRE DAME WOMEN'S SOCCER - BIG EAST Quarterfinal vs. Georgetown (Oct. 30, 1:00 EST) The 5th-ranked Notre Dame women's soccer team (16-2-0, 10-1-0 BIG EAST) embarks on its 2005 postseason with a BIG EAST quarterfinal game vs. Georgetown on Sunday, Oct. 30, at Alumni Field (1:00 EST) - a week after closing the regular season with a 6-1 win over GU ... ND, riding a 7-game win streak and 29-game scoring streak, has totaled 81 goals while allowing just 74 opponent shots (34 shots on goal) ... last weekend's action saw the Irish hand Villanova its most lopsided loss (4-0) since '99 before scoring three goals in a 51-second span vs. Georgetown (quickest 3G stretch in ND history) ... the Irish carry a 65-game home unbeaten streak vs. BIG EAST teams (64-0-1, since '95) and have not lost at Alumni Field in the past 24 games overall (all of '04 and '05) - believed to be the nation's longest active home win streak (along with VCU) and 3rd-longest in ND history (11th in the NCAA record book) ... ND's 9-0-0 home mark this season includes an eye-popping 42-3 scoring edge, just 27 opponent shots and only 10 opp. shots on goal (1.1/gm) ... the loss at Marquette on Sept. 30 was a rarity, as the Irish scored first (ND is 60-2-0 in its past 62 games when scoring first) ... since that loss, the Irish have rattled off a seven-game win streak that includes a 32-1 game scoring streak (with a 571-minute shutout streak that ended vs. GU) ... the Irish lead the nation in scoring with 4.50 goals/gm, paced by the nation's top scoring tandem of senior Katie Thorlakson (14G-23A; 51 pts) and freshman Kerri Hanks (20G-12A; 52 pts) - with sophomore F/M Amanda Cinalli (6G-12A) ranking 7th nationally in assists (the three ND forwards have combined for 127 pts) ... Hanks and Thorlakson are the nation's first 50-point teammates since 2000 ... ND also leads the nation with a +3.9 avg. scoring margin (81-10/+71, in 18 GP) and is 15th with a 0.56 GAA ... the DePaul game (Sept. 16) was the 400th in the 18-year history of ND women's soccer (the Irish have won 84% of their all-time games, at 335-59-17).
