Irish Prepping For NCAA Semifinal Versus Florida State, Just Two Wins Away From Winning Another National Title In Cary, N.C.

The top-ranked Notre Dame women's soccer team (24-0-1) has crept to within two wins of claiming its third NCAA title, with the next challenge being a College Cup semifinal game versus 5th-ranked Florida State (18-3-4) on Friday, Dec. 1 (6:30, live on ESPN-U; at SAS Soccer park in Cary, N.C.) ... the game also will be rebroadcast on Dec. 2 by ESPN-2 and www.und.com is hoping to provide a free internet radio call of the game (linked via und.com) ... ND is 5-2-0 all-time in the NCAA semfinals, winning national titles in 1995 and '04 ... had advanced to the semifinals for the 8th time in the past 13 seasons (only UNC has more semifinal trips since 1994) ... the Irish - who have posted NCAA wins over Oakand (7-1), Wisconsin-Milwaukee (1-0), #16 Colorado (3-0) and #8 Penn State (4-0) - have a 15-1 scoring edge in the NCAAs and own an all-time record of 5-2-0 in the NCAA semifnials ...
