Nov. 30, 2016

By Joanne Norell

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The National Soccer Coaches Association of America has announced its all-region teams, with a University of Notre Dame women’s soccer student-athlete among those honored.

Irish junior midfielder Taylor Klawunder was named to the NSCAA NCAA Division I Women’s All-Southeast Region Third Team, capping a year in which she was also named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Third Team. Klawunder made 20 starts in 21 games for the Irish, clocking 1,826 minutes and scoring two goals and one assist on the season.

Klawunder also played a key role in Notre Dame’s defensive effort en route to the program’s first ACC regular-season championship since joining the conference. The Irish allowed just nine goals this season (0.43 goals against average), ceding just 9.8 shots per game. The Irish went 7-1-2 during conference play, finishing the regular season atop the conference for a share of the regular-season title.

It was the first all-region honor of Klawunder’s career.
