John Gumpf Hometown: Riverside, Calif. Last College: CSU San Bernardino '97 Position: Volunteer Assistant Coach Experience: Third Season

John Gumpf is in his third year as volunteer assistant softball coach at Notre Dame. Gumpf works specifically with the Irish outfielders after playing outfield in the Minnesota Twins organization from 1989-94 as a second round draft pick out of high school.

The Riverside, Calif., native came to Notre Dame after coaching high school baseball for four years while earning his degree in kinesiology from Cal State San Bernardino in 1997. He also coached football for two years at Riverside Community College in 1996-97.

Gumpf, who currently works for Skyenet Internet Service, was married to Notre Dame assistant coach Deanna Mays on December 19, 1998, in Riverside, Calif.
