Notre Dame softball earns third regional coaching staff award in program history
Notre Dame hit the field for an exhibition game last Sunday, then made a special visit

2014 NFCA Mid-Atlantic Region Coaching Staff of the Year
A 2010 graduate of Notre Dame, John Whitty was named the program's first director of softball operations in August 2012.
Entering his second season as a member of the Irish staff, Whitty assists the Notre Dame coaches in coordinating travel and recruiting events and oversees all aspects of marketing and promotions, including the team's social media presence on Facebook and Twitter.
In addition, he manages all gameday promotional activities and serves as the team's liaison with the ticket office.
Whitty moved into his current role after serving as manager of the Joyce Athletics Grants-in-Aid Program from 2010 to the summer of 2012. Whitty was responsible for all aspects of stewardship and coordination of Notre Dame's elite athletic benefaction society.
A native of Clive, Iowa, Whitty earned his bachelor's degree in political science with a minor in the Hesburgh Program for Public Service at Notre Dame. He spent three years in the student manager organization, serving as the senior softball manager in 2010 and a football student manager in 2008 and 2009.
