    Softball vs. St. John's

    The Irish softball team was victorious over St. John's in Saturday's doubleheader.

    FIFTH-YEAR SEASON (2011): Graduated as one of the most decorated hitters in Notre Dame history ... named a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) third team All-American and an NFCA Great Lakes all-region first team selection, the BIG EAST Conference Player of the Year, and was an all-BIG EAST first team choice ... tabbed as the Notre Dame Monogram Club Most Valuable Player ... batted .383 with 11 doubles, 12 home runs, 64 RBI, a .651 slugging percentage and a .434 on-base percentage in 57 starts ... concluded career as the program's RBI leader (214), and ranked second on the Irish all-time list in doubles (51) and total bases (406), third in games played (243), home runs (35), slugging percentage (.580) and field assists (403), fifth in walks drawn (77) and seventh in batting average (.354) and hits (248) ... slapped a double and drove in a pair of runs at Central Florida (Feb. 18) ... recorded three RBI the following day against Delaware (Feb. 19) ... logged first multi-hit game of the season at the College of Charleston (Feb. 26) ... blasted first home run of the year, a solo shot, against Maryland (March 5) at the Walt Disney Wide World of Sports Complex ... crushed a solo home run in the first game of a doubleheader at Cal Poly (March 13) ... 2-for-3 with two RBI against Northern Illinois (March 25) ... added three hits, including a home run, and two RBI against Western Michigan (March 29) ... hit second home run in as many days and drove in four runs in a win over Purdue (March 31) at Melissa Cook Stadium ... turned in a banner BIG EAST series against Providence (April 2-3), batting a combined 7-for-9 (.778) with a home run, two doubles, eight RBI and three runs - RBI number surpassed the Friars' run total for the set (8-7) ... earned first BIG EAST Player of the Week award of the season (April 4) ... went a cumulative 12-for-19 (.632) over the next five games, adding eight more RBI to take home a second straight BIG EAST Player of the Week citation (April 11) ... homered in each game of a weekend set against Louisville (April 16-17) to complete a BIG EAST Player of the Week trifecta (April 18) ... 2-for-4 with a double, home run, and tied a season-high with five RBI in the nightcap at Villanova (April 21) ... walked all four plate appearances in game two at USF (April 27) to tie a program record ... opened series with St. John's (April 30) 3-for-4, stroking two doubles and racking up three RBI ... drove in four runs by way of a grand slam in the regular season finale at Connecticut (May 8) ... registered an RBI against both Western Michigan and Michigan (May 21) at the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional.
