Entering her third year as Notre Dame’s starting centerfielder ... started in left field as a freshman ... has combined with rightfielder Lizzy Lemire and leftfielder Jenny Kriech to start all three years, giving the Irish plenty of experience in the outfield ... best on the team at diving for balls defensively ... a smart outfielder who uses her experience to her advantage ... possesses a variety of options on offense with the ability to bunt, slap or hit away ... a natural lefty ... will bat in either the No. 2 or No. 9 spot in the lineup. AS A JUNIOR: Starting centerfielder for the Irish ... a first-team all-BIG EAST selection for the second time in her career (also in 1998) ... earned 2000 GTE academic all-district first-team honors ... batted .368 in BIG EAST Conference and ranked second in doubles (five) ... recorded nine multi-hit games, including five ‘perfect’ games at the plate ... went four for four with a RBI in the team’s 6-1 victory over Western Michigan ... followed the Western Michigan performance with a two for two game vs. Villanova to record a hit in six consecutive at bats ... compiled a streak of 27 straight games without a strikeout ... ranks second in Notre Dame history in toughest to strike out (21.48 at-bat to strike out ratio) ... fifth in career stolen bases with 33, including 12 in 2000 ... hit .353 against ranked opponents in 2000, including a one for two effort with two RBI, a run scored and her first career home run against #2 Arizona ... scored four game-winning runs and tallied two game-winning RBI ... drove in Notre Dame’s only run in the second inning of a 1-0 victory over Cal State Northridge. AS A SOPHOMORE: Started the ’99 season as the team’s lead-off batter ... moved down in the order to the nine spot, giving the Irish added speed and a reliable bat with runners in scoring position ... started 10 games at catcher, making her first collegiate start behind the plate against Purdue ...led the team in triples and game-winning runs (eight) ... recorded nine multi-hit games and three multi-RBI games ... two for three at the plate with two runs scored and one RBI in the team’s come-from-behind win over Boston College at the BIG EAST Tournament ... had one RBI in each of the three BIG EAST Tournament games ... had two-hits in all three extra-inning games at Ivy Field versus Indiana (two for three), Loyola (two for four) and IUPUI (two for four) ... four for four in Notre Dame’s 10-2 win over Purdue, notching a career-high in hits ... also went perfect at the plate in a 2-0 win over North Carolina ... had a nine-game hitting streak, the team’s second longest of the season, from March 6 to March 13 ... had at least one hit in all four games at the Choo Choo Classic ... started a two-out rally against Maryland in the top of the eighth inning of a 0-0 game with an infield single ... eventually came around to score the winning run, as the Irish scored six runs, all with two outs ... had game-winning RBI against Miami and scored the winning run versus Tennessee in the Gladstones Tournament ... 1999 Notre Dame Rockne Scholar-Athlete awardwinner for the softball team. AS A FRESHMAN: A BIG EAST first-team and all-rookie team selection in ’98 ... led the Irish in batting with a .343 average ... struck out only three times in 108 at-bats and struck out only once against BIG EAST opponents ... had the team’s highest on-base percentage (.408) and was 14 for 16 in base-stealing opportunities ... committed only one error in the outfield in 31 chances and none in conference play ... ranked fourth in the BIG EAST in stolen bases ... went three for three with two runs scored and two RBI in an 8-0 win over Seton Hall ... had the game-winning RBI against Indiana State, hitting in Korrie Allen in the bottom of the sixth inning ... BIG EAST Rookie of the Week on April 13 for her .538 batting average against Seton Hall and Purdue ... played with the Legacy during the summer of 1998, winning the women’s A national championships in Arizona. PREP & PERSONAL: Two-sport standout at La Jolla High School, winning four letters in both softball and soccer ... eight-time all-conference selection ... named to San Diego Union-Tribune all-academic first team ... first player from her high school to be named first-team all-state ... struck out just once in her senior year ... led her team in batting three years ... led her soccer team in goals three years and in assists four years ... captained her softball team as a senior and her soccer team in junior and senior years ... received distinguished athlete award from the U.S. Marine Corps ... from the same high school as former Irish women’s soccer player Julie Maund ... born Sept. 17, 1979, in San Diego, Calif. ... enrolled in the Mendoza College of Business majoring in management information systems. |
