NOTRE DAME, Ind. - University of Notre Dame sophomore softball player Jenna Simon has been named to the first BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll of the 2013 season, the conference office announced Monday.

Simon enjoyed a standout opening weekend at the Charlotte Fast Pitch Classic for the Irish, batting .529 and leading the team with nine hits, five stolen bases and four runs scored in four games.  Simon was also the most effective Notre Dame hitter with two outs on the scoreboard during the tournament, batting at a .833 clip (5-for-6).

The Irish return to action Feb. 15-17 at the Campbell/Cartier Classic in San Diego, Calif.  Opponents on Notre Dame's schedule for the tournament include 2012 NCAA Super Regional qualifier, No. 16 Washington (Feb. 15, noon ET) and 2012 NCAA Championship runner-up, No. 2 Oklahoma (Feb. 17, noon ET).
