NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Sophomore outfielder Brianna Jorgensborg was named the BIG EAST Conference Softball Player of the Week, announced by the league on Monday. The Thousand Oaks, Calif., native earned the honor after aiding the Irish to a 3-1 record at the UNLV Invitational last weekend behind a slew of impressive plate performance.

Jorgensborg put together one of the most prolific slugging stretches in Notre Dame history while in Las Vegas and finished the four-game invite with a 1.889 slugging pct. which came courtesy of three triples and two home runs in nine at-bats. Her .556 batting average led Notre Dame throughout the weekend.

Jorgensborg tripled in three consecutive contests, becoming the first player to accomplish the feat in the 21-year history of the program. She had one triple and one home run with two RBI against Texas Tech (March 7), and then tripled against UC Santa Barbara (March 7) and scored a run. One day later, she tripled against Texas Tech (March 8) to drive in a run and had two RBI, and scored one run with a two-run homer at UNLV (March 8). Also during the four games she drew one walk, stole one base, was hit by a pitch, and laid down a sacrifice bunt to complete her all-around effort at the dish. Jorgensborg also accumulated an on-base percentage of .636.

Notre Dame (6-6) travels to UCLA for a matchup on Tuesday (March 10) at 2 p.m. (PT). Live stats will be available at UND.com.
