Junior third base Andrea Loman was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week on Monday, May 6, after helping the Irish to a 5-1 week and grab the number one seed in the BIG EAST Championship, set to being on Thursday, May 9, in Salem, Va.

Loman keyed Notre Dame's 5-1 week, which included a victory over #18 DePaul, with a 10 for 17 performance at the plate (.588). She drove in seven runs, hit two home runs and four doubles while stealing three bases in six games.

During BIG EAST play over the weekend, Loman hit .615 and drove in five runs while smacking two home runs and four doubles. Her BIG EAST slugging percentage was 1.385 and she played a large role in Notre Dame's sweep of Villanova for the regular-season BIG EAST title with a five for seven performance, three RBI and a home run off Villanova's Theresa Hornick, who had only yielded four home runs at that point in the season.

The award is the second of Loman's career, as the Riverside, Calif., native earned player of the week accolades in March of 2001.
