NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Notre Dame softball head coach Deanna Gumpf recently announced that four prep student-athletes have signed a National Letter of Intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at the University beginning in the fall of 2012.

Casey Africano (Huntington Beach, Calif.), Micaela Arizmendi (Huntington Beach, Calif.), Allison Rhodes (Kirkland, Wash.) and Megan Sorlie (Wichita, Kan.) represent the four-person signing class that will be eligible to compete with the Irish during the 2013 spring season.

"This class truly represents what Notre Dame softball is all about," Gumpf said. "Though they are all very talented and accomplished, they each share a commitment to academics and athletics. We look forward to seeing them succeed as student-athletes at the University while leaving their mark on this program in a memorable fashion."

Notre Dame, the 2011 BIG EAST regular season champions, finished last season with a 46-11 overall record and made a 13th straight trip to the NCAA Tournament. The squad returns 13 Monogram winners from 2011 for the upcoming campaign.
