Katie Carroll An Honorable Mention All-American In The 200 Butterfly

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Senior Katie Carroll (Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy) completed her Irish swimming career by capturing the fourth honorable mention All-American honor of her career on the final day of the 2007 NCAA Championships. The 19th-ranked University of Notre Dame women's swimming and diving team competed in a total of three events on Saturday, March 10, in Minneapolis, Minn. in its final event of the 2006-07 season. Carroll started her afternoon by finishing 11th (1:57.58) in preliminaries of the 200-yard butterfly. The time was a school record in the event topping Lisa Garcia's 2002 time of 1:58.39. Carroll would finish 12th (1:58.10) in the consolation finals to capture the fourth honor mention All-American honor of her career. Irish sophomore Christa Riggins (Phoenix, Ariz./Sunnyslope) finished 59th (50.75) in the 100-yard freestyle. Fellow sophomore Claire Hutchinson (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) placed 35th (16:36.22) in the 1,650-yard freestyle. The Irish 400-yard freestyle relay team of freshman Megan Farrell (Hopkinton, Mass./Mass./Hopkinton), Carroll, Riggins and Rebecca Grove (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) finished 20th (3:22.22) in the final event of the evening.
