    Notre Dame Dominates Michigan State For First Dual Meet Win

    EAST LANSING, Mich. - A clean sweep of each of Friday's nine individual swimming events helped Notre Dame coast to a 150-93 victory at Michigan State. The women's swimming and diving win at McCaffree Pool was the first for the Irish (1-2) on the season.

    Notre Dame now looks ahead to a home meet next Saturday (Nov. 6) against Purdue. Live stats will be available at UND.com.

    Heidi Grossman finished second off the 1- and 3-meter boards to aid the Irish effort, and Notre Dame also placed first in one of two relays.

    Gracie Fredlake and Amywren Miller collected a pair of wins in bookend events, as Fredlake won the freestyle distance races (1,000, 500) with Miller cruising through the sprints (50, 100).


    200 Medley Relay: Kim Holden, Samantha Maxwell, Lauren Scott and Miller teamed to touch first in 1:44.87.

    1,000 Freestyle: Fredlake dialed in for a first-place finish in 10:16.63.

    200 Freestyle: Amy Prestinario racked Notre Dame's third win of the evening in 1:54.54 ... Kelly Ryan wasn't far behind, finishing in 1:55.16 for second as Katie Casey (1:56.62) was third.

    50 Freestyle: Miller continued her dominance in the fastest race of the meet, taking home gold-medal honors in 23.46 ... Lauren Parisi was third in 24.74.

    400 Individual Medley: Notre Dame kept the streak alive as Sarah Dotzel (4:35.11) and Mikelle Masciantonio (4:35.28) finished first and second, respectively.

    3-meter Diving: Grossman (277.05) was second overall.

    100 Butterfly: Casey (56.99) topped the podium to keep the swimmers undefeated on the night.

    100 Freestyle: Miller's second win was shelved after she went 52.54.

    100 Backstroke: Holden (57.68) tapped in first, just ahead of Parisi (59.51), who was second.

    500 Freestyle: Fredlake's second effort yielded another gold in 5:02.22.

    1-meter Diving: Grossman was second was again, this time after scoring 261.60 points off the short board.

    100 Breaststroke: Maxwell (1:04.30) left the competition in the wake and was over three seconds faster than Lauren Stauder (1:07.36), who was second.

    200 Freestyle Relay: Notre Dame's A-squad (Miller, Holden, Meg Reynolds and Emily Barton) exhibitioned in a time of 1:40.34 ... Prestinario, Ryan, Kellyn Kuhlke and Scott placed second in 1:37.56.
