    TOPEKA, Kan. - The University of Notre Dame women's swimming team leads the Kansas Classic after two days, as the Irish have tallied 667.5 points through 12 events as they compete against five other teams.

    Sophomore sensation Emma Reaney has won three individual events through two days, while Holden has won two events. Notre Dame also won the 200 and 400 medley relays to end day one and to begin day two.

    200 Free Relay: The Irish team of Catherine Galletti, Christen McDonough, Kelly Ryan and Emma Reaney took second in 1:34.44 to earn 34 points. Nebraska's A team took first in 1:34.18, just .26 ahead of the Irish. Notre Dame's B team of Suzanne Bessire, Kim Holden, Sarah Dotzel and Genevieve Bradford took fourth in 1:36.34 to earn 30 points.

    500 Free: Jaime Malandra (9th, 4:59.44), Bridget Casey (11th, 5:03.35), Erin Foley (13th, 5:05.05) and Gracie Fredlake (14th, 5:05.90) filled up the 500 free B final to give the Irish 24 points.


     

     

    200 IM: Reaney continued her dominance in the 200 IM with an easy four and a half second win Friday. The Lawrence, Kan., native finished in 2:00.79. Bradford came in sixth in 2:08.73. In the B finals Melissa Scott took ninth (2:07.28) and Fredlake (2:08.45) finished 11th.    

    50 Free: Ryan took fourth in 23.94, while Galletti (24.10) and McDonough (24.41) took seventh and eighth, respectively. Reaney (9th, 24.06) and Holden (13th, 24.28) performed well in the B finals. 

    400 Medley Relay: Holden, Reaney, Dotzel and Galletti rolled to a win in the 400 medley relay, finishing in a time of 3:45.09 to pick up 40 points for the team. The B team of Ryan, Lauren Stauder, Courtney Whyte and Bessire finished fourth in 3:52.08 to secure 30 more points towards the Irish cause.

    200 Medley Relay: The Irish opened day two in style as the team of Holden, Reaney, Galletti and Ryan took first in 1:43.22, .66 seconds ahead of Nebraska's A team. Notre Dame's B team of Dotzel, Stauder, Lauren Scott and McDonough finished fourth in 1:45.91.

    400 IM: Reaney continued her dominating weekend with a win in the 400 IM. She finished in 4:15.92 to win by over six seconds. Fredlake (4th, 4:28.32), Casey (5th, 4:28.53), M. Scott (6th, 4:28.64) and Malandra (9th, 4:30.84) gave the Irish five total point scorers in the event.

    100 Fly: Holden took first in the 100 fly with a time of 55.06. Whyte (57.26), Galletti (57.42) and Dotzel (59.11) took sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively. Genevieve Heidkamp (10th, 58.03), Casey (11th, 58.31) and L. Scott (12th, 58.47) to perform well in the B finals.

    200 Free: Ryan took sixth in the 200 free in 1:53.53, while Bessire finished eighth in 1:55.54. In the B finals Malandra took 10th in 1:54.52, Fredlake took 13th in 1:55.58 and Bradford touched the pad in 15th in 1:56.20.        

    100 Breast: Reaney won her third individual event of the weekend, taking the 100 breast in 1:01.61, almost three seconds better than Wistey Imelda of Iowa State. McDonough finished seventh in 1:06.38, while Stauder tied for 13th in the B final with a time of 1:07.31.

    100 Back: Holden continued her strong met with a win in the 100 back. The senior tri-captain finished in 54.94, while Ryan finished fourth in 56.51. Galletti finished sixth in 57.77, while Whyte took eighth in 58.77. Dotzel (13th, 59.42) and L. Scott (15th, 59.61) scored points for the Irish in the B final.

    800 Free Relay: The Irish ended the day with a second place showing in the 800 free relay. The team of Reaney, Ryan, Bessire and Malandra finished in 7:35.01. The Irish B team of Holden, Casey, Bradford and Fredlake finished seventh in 7:46.48.
