Notre Dame Loses First Dual Meet of Season as Irish Drop 166-124 Decision at Michigan
ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Notre Dame women's swimming and diving team,
ranked 24th nationally lost its first dual meet of the season as the Irish
dropped a 166-124 decision at sixth-ranked Michigan. With the loss, Notre
Dame drops to 7-1 on the season.
Notre Dame won six of 16 events on the afternoon. Linda Gallo was a double
winner for the Irish as she claimed the 1000 freestyle (10:04.67) and 500
freestyle 94:57.01. In addition, Gallo was second in the 200 freestyle
Rhiana Saunders won the one-meter diving with 243.98 points, while Alison
Newell was victorious in the 200 butterfly (2:03.97) and Shannon Suddarth
captured the 400 individual medley (4:32.86).
The 400 freestyle relay team of Newll, Courtney South, Brenda Reilly and
Kristen Van Saun also placed first.
