NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Notre Dame women's swimming and diving team will christen 2010 with a dual meet against regional rival Northwestern on Saturday (Jan. 9) beginning at 1:30 p.m. (ET). Action at the Rolfs Aquatic Center can be tracked through live stats at UND.com.
With a 1-1 dual meet record, the Irish are receiving votes in the latest College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) poll. Northwestern is ranked 23. Kim Holden (100 back, 200 back), Samantha Maxwell (100 breast) and Katie Casey (200 fly) each recorded NCAA B-cut performances during the first half of the 2009-10 schedule.
Both Notre Dame (25th) and Northwestern (21st) were ranked when the programs matched-up in 2009. The Irish fell to the host Wildcats, 178-173, after leading by four points heading into the final race of the night (400 free relay). The last event came down to the wire with Northwestern prevailing by less than four-tenths of a second.
Northwestern has won five of the eight dual meets between the two schools.
