NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Coming off impressive wins over Big Ten foes Michigan and Northwestern last Saturday, the No. 19 University of Notre Dame women's swimming and diving team heads to Bloomington, Ind., for a showdown with Indiana at 11 a.m. Saturday.

The dual meet between the two teams will be the first since 2002-03, with the Hoosiers holding a 3-1 mark against the Irish. The two programs first raced against each other in a dual meet in 1991-92 when current men's head coach Tim Welsh led the Irish women.

When Notre Dame gets in the pool on Saturday, it will mark the second of three consecutive racing weekends for the Irish. Next weekend the Irish welcome in Towson for the annual Shamrock Invitational, while the Notre Dame men will face off with Harvard and Towson.

Last weekend the Irish blew past Michigan (185-115) and Northwestern (205-95) as they picked up their first win over the Wolverines since 2005-06 and their first win over the Wildcats since 2001-02.

Turning in impressive performances were standouts Emma Reaney and Kim Holden to headline nine swimmers and divers that earned victories. Reaney and Holden each won three individual events and a relay and both earned NCAA B cut times - Reaney in the 100 and 200 breast and the 200 IM and Holden in the 100 and 200 back.

Other winners included Kelly Ryan (200 free, 400 free relay), Bridget Casey (200 fly), Allison Casareto (1-meter dive), Sarah Dotzel (200 medley relay), Christen McDonough (200 medley relay), Catherine Galletti (200 medley relay/400 medley relay) and Suzanne Bessire (400 free relay).

Reaney also made some Rolfs Aquatic Center history on Saturday as she smashed the pool records in the 100 and 200 breast that were previously set by former USC Trojan and Olympian Rebecca Soni on Oct. 19, 2007. The Lawrence, Kan., native now owns three pool records and is apart of six school records including four individual events. She has automatically qualified for three individual events and the 400 medley relay for March's NCAA Championships.

For her efforts Reaney earned her third BIG EAST Women's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week award this season and the sixth of her record-setting two-year career. She was also named the Counsilman Hunsaker CollegeSwimming.com National Division I Women's Swimmer of the Week for the first time.

Indiana (2-4) is coming off a seventh place showing at the Ohio State Invitational and has earlier knocked off Kentucky and Michigan in dual meets. The Hoosiers beat the Wolverines, 223-77, on Oct. 26.

Fans can follow the meet through live results. A link will be provided on UND.com.
