NOTRE DAME, Ind. -
The No. 22 Notre Dame women's swimming and diving team returns to action for the third consecutive week in a row, taking on Purdue in dual-meet action on Friday, Nov. 2, at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center in West Lafayette, Ind. with competition beginning at 5 p.m.
The Irish come off two tough losses against top-25 ranked teams, USC and Minnesota. Despite the losses, Notre Dame swimmers were still able to find success in the pool, gaining personal records and NCAA `B' cut times.
This will be the 11th meeting between the two schools, with Purdue leading the series, 3-6-1. Last season, the Irish hosted the Boilermakers, taking the title with a commanding score of 185-115. While 12 monogram winners from last season graduated, the Irish retained an additional 12 and brought in a class of freshmen that have already been making great strides in the pool.
Last year in the victory over Purdue, junior Claire Hutchinson (Baltimore, Md./McDonough) set a Notre Dame school record in the 1,000-yard freestyle with her time of 9:52.98. The mark broke Linda Gallo's mark set in 1998.
Returning event winner against Purdue last season for the Irish is junior Casey Wagner (Glenshaw, Pa./Shady Side) in the 500-yard freestyle.
