Notre Dame Travels To Ohio State Invitational
Dec. 4, 2008
NOTRE DAME, Ind. - In its first action since downing Purdue on Nov. 8, the 24th-ranked Notre Dame women's swimming and diving team will travel to Columbus, Ohio, this weekend for the Ohio State Invitational at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. The three-day event begins Friday (Dec. 5) and follows the same format as the BIG EAST Conference and NCAA Championships. The Irish (2-0) join the host Buckeyes, Bowling Green, Cleveland State, Minnesota, Miami (Fla.) and Penn State in the swimming field. On the diving side, Notre Dame will challenge Indiana, Miami (Fla.), North Carolina State, Purdue, Arizona State, Florida State and Ohio State. "We're excited because it has been a few weeks since we have competed," Irish head coach Brian Barnes said. "It's a good three-day meet and it gives us a chance to swim one or two times a day with a lot of rest, and that's going to favor some of our best performances of the year." Admission to the event is free of charge. Live meet scoring and results will be available at UND.com. For up-the-minute results and scores, sign up for IRISH ALERTS text messaging services at UND.com
