NOTRE DAME, Ind. ---University of Notre Dame women's tennis senior
Erin Gowen lost in the championship match of the No. 1 singles flight on
Sunday to Elisa Penalvo of Marquette in the final day of competition of the
Eck Classic. Gowen lost to Penalvo by a 6-0, 6-1 flight after Gowen won
three matches over the weekend to advance to the final.
The Notre Dame duo of Courtney Haskell and Darcie Sweet won the No.
3 doubles title with an 8-6 win over Adams and Lyndee Anderson from Indiana
State.

NOTRE DAME, Ind. --- University of Notre Dame senior Erin Gowen will
play in the No. 1 singles flight championship match on Sunday at the Eck
Tennis Classic. Gowen was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Mary Beth Maggart of
Purdue in the semifinals and will meet Elisa Penalvo of Marquette in
Sunday's final.

NOTRE DAME, Ind. --- University of Notre Dame senior Erin Gowen
advanced to the semifinals of the No. 1 flight by winning two matches
Friday in the opening day of the Eck Classic. The event continues Saturday
and Sunday at the Courtney Tennis Center.
Gowen defeated Kristen McCracken of Iowa by a 6-3, 6-0 score and
Alice Rangsithienchai of Minnesota by a 6-2, 7-6 count to advance to the
semis. She will face Mary Beth Maggart of Purdue in her first match on
Saturday. The other No. 1 flight finalists are Sarah Cyganiak of Michigan
and Elisa Penalvo of Marquette.
