No. 8 Pepperdine Too Much for No. 11 Notre Dame
MADISON, Wis. -- The University of Notre Dame
women's tennis team, ranked No. 11 in the country, lost a
5-2 decision to No. 8 Pepperdine on Thursday in the first
round of the USTA/ITA Women's National Indoor Championship.
Notre Dame will now compete in the consolation phase of the
tournament.
The loss dropped Notre Dame's record to 4-2 on the
season while Pepperdine is undefeated at 5-0.
The Notre Dame No. 1 doubles team of Jennifer Hall and
Tiffany Gates posted an 8-5 win over Angela Lawrence and
Isabella Petrov of Pepperdine, the No. 5-ranked team in the
country. Singles winners for Notre Dame were Hall at No. 1
and Gates at No. 3.
