    BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The No. 22 University of Notre Dame women's tennis team rallied from a 3-1 deficit to win an absolute thriller over No. 60 Indiana, 4-3, Sunday in Bloomington.

    The Irish took a 1-0 lead into singles after earning doubles wins at two and three. However, the Hoosiers jumped all over Notre Dame early in singles, earning straight-set wins at six, five and four to take a 3-1 lead. The Irish didn't give up though as they claimed three-set wins at two, three and finally one to win the over four and a half hour match.

    Notre Dame claimed the 1-0 lead with a win in doubles. Jennifer Kellner and Chrissie McGaffigan breezed past Katie Klyczek and Carolyn Chupa, 8-2, at two to give the Irish the early edge. The Hoosiers came back with an 8-5 win at one to even the doubles score at one as the No. 44 team of Leslie Hureau and Sophie Garee defeated the No. 30 team of Brittney Sanders and Julie Sabacinski. The Irish clinched the doubles point as Quinn Gleason and Katherine White topped Alecia Kauss and Shannor Murdy, 9-8 (4) at three.

    The Hoosiers rallied in singles as they jumped out to a 3-1 lead. Murdy tied the match at one with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Julie Vrabel at six. Garre gave IU a 2-1 lead with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Molly O'Koniewski at five. Indiana claimed its last win at four as Chupa defeated McGaffigan, 6-2, 7-6 (5).

    Notre Dame started its comeback at two as Kellner topped Klyczek, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3. The Irish tied up the match with a 7-5, 1-6, 6-2 win at three as Gleason topped Kauss.


     

     

    With all eyes on one, No. 74 Sanders made quite a comeback to seal the win for the Irish. After losing the first set, 6-7 (3), Sanders took the second set, 7-5, and rallied from a 3-0 hole in the third to take the final set, 6-4. 

    Notre Dame (7-3) welcomes Western Michigan to Eck Tennis Pavilion at 5 p.m. Thursday.
