BALTIMORE, Md. -- Notre Dame senior All-American men's tennis
player and tournament top-seed Ryan Sachire advanced to the quarterfinals
of the the T. Rowe Price National Clay Court Intercollegiate Championships,
the first leg of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association collegiate grand
slam, held at the Suburban Club of Baltimore County. Sachire beat Fresno
State's 32nd-ranked Oliver Le Jeune 7-6 (7-5), 6-2. He will face
Mississippi State's seventh-seed and 14th-ranked Marco Baron in Saturday's
quarterfinals at 8:30 a.m.. The winner of this match will face the winner
of the Leif Meineke of Boise State and Frank Moser of VCU match at 12:00
p.m.
Irish junior All-American and second-seed Michelle Dasso advanced
to the quarterfinals for the second consecutive year with a walkover when
William & Mary's Delphine Troch was forced to withdraw with an injury.
Mississippi's 21st-ranked Ivona Mihailova then eliminated Dasso in the
quarterfinals 6-1, 6-1.
