Irish have Solid Showing on Day Two of adidas Invitational
Three remain undefeated after first two rounds of singles play

Senior Alicia Salas won two singles matches and one doubles match to stay alive in each portion of the main draw.

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. - As the University of Notre Dame women's tennis team continued play in the season opening adidas Invitational, senior Alicia Salas (Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek H.S.) and sophomores Kelly Nelson (St. Petersburg, Fla./Shorecrest Preparatory School) and Lauren Connelly (Oklahoma City, Okla./Bishop McGuinness H.S.) each won two singles matches to stay alive in the main draw.

In the first round, 64th-ranked Salas beat Kristin Cargill of Duke 6-2, 6-2, Nelson topped Wisconsin's Kaylan Caiati in a 6-3, 6-2 deision and Connelly upended TCU's Glorianne Lopez 6-1, 6-1. In the second round, it was Salas over Tennessee's Ashley Robards 6-4, 6-2, Nelson posted a 6-3, 6-0 win over Claudia Forace also of Tennessee and Connelly picked up a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Karla Mancinas of TCU.

Salas and Connelly were also one of two Irish doubles teams that picked up a win in the second round of play. Thepair, ranked 37th in the nation, registered a shutout. Freshman twins Catrina Thompson (Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gorman H.S.) and Christian Thompson (Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gorman H.S.) posted an 8-4 victory over the TCU team of Pierce and Brown. The Irish will continue both singles and doubles action tomorrow.
