Wildcat Invitational Day One Results Get Acrobat Reader

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Notre Dame women's tennis team found success Friday on the first day of play at the Wildcat Fall Invitational, hosted by Northwestern.

Freshman Shannon Mathews defeated Minnesota's Karina Chiarelli, 6-1, 6-1, in first-round Flight A singles play. Junior Kali Krisik knocked off Michigan State's Lindsey Lonergan, 6-4, 6-1 in Flight B, and senior Katie Potts downed the Spartans' Manon Noe, 6-1, 6-1 in Flight C action.

Krisik and Mathews teamed up to defeat Michigan State's Dana Guentert and Ana Milosaujevic, 8-4 in the first round of Flight A doubles, before knocking off Wisconsin's Jessica Seyferth and Alaina Trgovich, 8-2, in round two.

Potts teamed with Illinois' Christine Stromburg to defeat Wisconsin's Emese Kardhordo and Erin Jobe, 8-2, before falling 6-8 in the Flight B second round to Akron's Zaruhi Harutyunan and Anna Baronayte.

The Irish continue play at the Wildcat Invitational Saturday.
