ANN ARBOR, Mich. --- Notre Dame has finished competition in the ITA Midwest Regional Championships today after the remaining doubles team and three singles players fell to highly seeded opponents.
Senior Jennifer Kellner and freshman Monica Robinson were the last standing Irish doubles team and made it through the bracket to the quarterfinals before losing to No. 1 seed Emina Bektas and Brooke Bolender of Michigan.
Senior Britney Sanders fell to Bolender in singles in a close, three-set match, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4. Kellner lost to Northwestern’s Belinda Niu in another heartbreaker, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4. And finally, Robinson dropped to the third seed, Michigan’s Ronit Yurovsky, 6-4, 6-4.
Notre Dame continues its fall season in a few weeks at the Dick Vitale Clay Court Classic in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.
