RIVIERA, Calif. - Notre Dame senior All-American women's tennis player Jennifer Hall and sophomore Michelle Dasso dropped first-round matches at the Riviera Women's All-American Championships at the Riviera Tennis Club, the second of four legs of the collegiate grand slam. Dasso, ranked 17th, lost 6-0, 6-4 to Duke's top-seeded Vanessa Webb, the 1998 NCAA women's singles champion. UCLA's 21st-ranked Cristina Popescu beat the 23rd-ranked Hall 6-0, 6-1.
The Irish will begin play in the consolation draw on Friday.
