Dasso Advances To Singles Semifinals At ITA Championships

Notre Dame's top-seeded junior All-American Michelle Dasso won a pair of singles matches to reach the semfinals at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Region championships at Ohio State. Dasso beat Indiana's Zahra Ahamed 6-2, 6-3 and Ohio State's Monica Rincon 6-3, 6-1. She will meet third-seeded Kristy Dascoli from Ohio State in the semifinals. Irish sophomore fourth-seed Becky Varnum, a semifinalist a year ago, lost 6-2, 6-2 to Northwestern's No. 9-16 seeded Katherine Nasser.

Dasso and Varnum, seeded No. 5-8 in doubles, reach the quarterfinals ith a 6-3, 6-3 win over Indiana's Field and Levin. They will meet Wisconsin's Gabler and Mues on Sunday for a spot in the semifinals.
