Notre Dame junior All-American Michelle Dasso and sophomore Becky Varnum completed an Irish sweep of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Region doubles championships on Monday with a pair of wins at Ohio State. Dasso and Varnum beat Ohio State’s seventh-ranked and second-seeded Kristy Dascoli and Briana Harris 6-4, 7-5 in the semifinals and then won the 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 over Purdue’s Jennifer Embry and Shannon Taheny to claim the doubles title.

The main draw doubles win came on the final day of the championship after freshman Katie Cunha and junior Kimberly Guy won the consolation doubles title on Sunday. Cunha and Guy lost in the first round of the main draw before advancing through six rounds of consolation draw to win. They beat Cincinnati’s Kara Molony and Lisa Pruett 8-5 in the consolation final. The tournament ends Notre Dame’s fall season, with the season resuming in January with the beginning of the dual-match season. The Irish open at Hawaii-Pacific on January 10, 2000.
