Velasco Needs One More Win to Qualify for All-American Championships
PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. -University of Notre Dame women's tennis junior Marisa Velasco won two singles matches on Tuesday in qualifying rounds for the All-American Championships. Velasco needs to win one match on Wednesday to gain a spot in the 32-person singles portion of the tournament, which begins Thursday.
Velasco defeated Fay DeVera of Arizona State by a 6-3, 6-1 count and Anh Nguyen of Pepperdine by a 7-5, 4-6, 6-1 score on Tuesday to advance in the qualifying.
Notre Dame junior Jennifer Hall earned an automatic spot in the 32-person main draw and will play in the doubles main draw with Tiffany Gates.
