No. 16 Notre Dame Defeats Minnesota, 8-1

NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- The 16th-ranked Notre Dame women's tennis team swept all six singles matches en route to an 8-1 victory over Minnesota at the Eck Pavilion on Saturday morning.

The Irish, which improved to 8-2 on the season, won four of the six singles matches in straight sets. Notre Dame won two three-set singles matches as Jennifer Hall needed three sets to defeat Nora Sauska 7-5, 4-6, 7-5 at number one singles and Marisa Velasco rallied from one set down to defeat Kim Simonsen 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 at number three singles.

The Irish won two of three doubles matches as freshman Michelle Dasso, junior Marisa Velasco, senior Kelley Olson and sophomore Kelly Zalinski won both singles and doubles matches for Notre Dame.

Notre Dame returns to action tomorrow when the Irish host Kansas beginning at 1 p.m. at the Eck Pavilion.
