No. 15 Notre Dame Defeats No. 22 Northwestern 8-1

NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- The 15th-ranked Notre Dame women's tennis team won its second match over a top 25 opponent in four days, defeating 25th-ranked Northwestern 8-1 on Friday at the Eck Pavilion.

The Irish, which defeated 25th-ranked Wisconsin on Tuesday, won five of six singles matches against the Wildcats. Notre Dame junior Jennifer Hall rallied to win at number one singles 2-6, 6-4, 7-5 while freshman Michelle Dasso, junior Marisa Velasco, senior Tiffany Gates and sophomore Kelly Zalinski all won in straight sets for the Irish

Notre Dame swept all three doubles matches with Gates and Hall winning at number one doubles, Dasso and Velasco victorious at number two doubles and Kelley Olson and Zalinski claiming the number three doubles point.

The Irish improved to 10-3 on the season and will travel to Las Vegas, Nev. for matches against UNLV and Florida next Tuesday and Wednesday.
