Notre Dame Improves to 15-8 with 7-2 win over Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C.-Notre Dame's 17th-ranked women's tennis team swept the singles matches and cruised to a 7-2 win at Clemson to improve to 15-8 on the season. Clemson falls to 7-11.

Freshman Michelle Dasso improved to 21-1 in dual matches with a tough 4-6, 7-6, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles over Etresia Kruger in which she held off several match points by Kruger in the second set. The Irish used five straight-set wins in the remaining five singles matches for a 6-0 lead after singles.

Clemson won two of the three matches for the final 7-2score. Senior Tiffany Gates and junior Jennifer Hall beat Clemson's Stefanie Woerz and Cinny Clausen 8-3 for Notre Dame's only doubles win.

The was the fourth straight for the Irish against an ACC opponent dating back to an 8-1 win over Maryland on Sun., April 5. Notre Dame also beat 10th-ranked Wake Forest 8-1 on Thursday, April 9, before losing to third ranked Duke on Sat., April 11.

Notre Dame returns to the court with its final match of the regular season on Tues., April 21, when the Irish play host to the Indiana Hoosiers. The two-time defending champions BIG EAST champions then head to Miami, Fla., for the BIG EAST championships April 23-26.
